Bus wipers get a workout in Fair Park

The Museum of Nature and Science, formerly known as the Dallas Museum of Natural History and the Science Place, follows its education objectives (focusing on the nature of science, life science and earth science) by presenting Scholastic's The Magic School Bus Kicks Up a Storm. A magical school bus, hmmm? That must mean endless free soda and Pop Rocks. Sadly, treats are not included, and "kicking up a storm" does not refer to it's-the-last-day-of-school-let's-throw-our-papers-out-the-window high jinks. This is a family/educational event, you troublemaker, but if that sounds a little dry, then think of it more as "weather adventures" that involve "taking a ride with Miss Frizzle and her friends for a hands-on journey that includes sending hot air balloons soaring, making snowflakes and visiting the Disaster Zone to mix up your own wild weather 'live' from the TV studio." All right, so it's not quite the same old teachers, books and dirty looks, but it's also not nearly as cool as the magic bus we were thinking of. Take this magical mystery tour from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday (and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday) through January 16. Tickets are $5 to $8.50. The Museum of Nature and Science is located at 1318 S. Second Ave. in Fair Park. Call 214-428-5555 or visit scienceplace.org.
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays-Sundays. Starts: Nov. 1. Continues through Jan. 16
