Dream World of Magic

Catch Narnia in Fort Worth

Before the fuss over Harry Potter corrupting children to pagan ways, much was made of The Chronicles of Narnia being a Christian allegory. Who would have thought? Kids sure don't; they are above such analysis and petty trifling. At its core Narnia is a simply a collection of fantastic images and scenarios that can excite the imagination and our spirit of adventure—something kids can't help but care about. Accordingly, The Kids Who Care Musical Theatre presents The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, the first story in the series by C.S. Lewis, which will have its intended audience exploring closets and seeking out secrets in whatever house they might live in, looking for their very own Aslan and Mr. Tumnus. Apparently, Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien had a bet on who could write the greatest story. We think Tolkien won by a slight margin, but being runner-up to the Lord of the Rings ain't so bad. Narnia is kinda like the Mr. Pibb to the Rings' Dr Pepper, and kids know that besides Turkish Delight being quite tempting, "Mr. Pibb and Red Vines equals crazy delicious." The show runs through December 23 at the Scott Theatre, 1300 Gendy St. in Fort Worth. Tickets are $12 to $18. For tickets and showtimes, call 817-737-5437 or visit kidswhocare.org.
Dec. 16-23, 7:30 p.m.; Fridays-Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Dec. 16. Continues through Dec. 23
