School's In

High School gets straight A's

I'm too old to understand the phenomenon of Disney's High School Musical, about two teens who meet at karaoke, discover mutual interests and, coincidentally, attend the same school. The only way I knew about it was through the weekly Target circulars in which the soundtrack was consistently on sale. This is where it comes in handy to have a 9-year-old nephew with the Disney Channel at home. Matt Lopez (yes, this is my shameless attempt to be his favorite uncle by putting his name here) and I talked about the movie awhile ago, so that I might better understand it. I asked if he liked the movie and why. His response: "Yeah...I don't know. I just do." Bravo. Best quote I've ever had. Ahem. So there's the hit movie, the best-selling soundtrack and now, there's High School Musical—The Concert. Much in the vein of their other hit TV film/soundtrack/tour, The Cheetah Girls, Disney brings the show live with Vanessa, Lucas, Monique and others from the cast performing favorites from the hit film. The show arrives at the American Airlines Center, 2500 Victory Ave., at 4 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $38.50 to $58.50. Call 214-373-8000 or visit ticketmaster.com.
Sun., Dec. 17, 4 p.m.
