Put A Spell On You

Take some '70s-era hippy folk, mix in a heap of religion, add a touch of makeup and stage it as a bouncy, Broadway-style musical performed at a "family-friendly" theater in Hurst. Sounds like a night in hell to me, but maybe you're into that sort of thing. Well then, slip on your Earth Shoes, put the fam in the VW microbus and head on out to Artisan Center Theater, 404 E. Pipeline Road, for the company's production of Godspell, the hippy-trippy musical version of the Gospel of Matthew. (We're responsible people here at the Dallas Observer, so in no way are we endorsing the use of hallucinogens to enhance your theater experience. That would be wrong.) Artisan Center's version of the 1971 musical opens Friday and continues through January 27. Performances are 7 p.m. Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday (with a 3 p.m. matinee on Saturday). Call 817-284-1200.
Mondays, Thursdays-Saturdays, 7 p.m.; Saturdays, 3 p.m. Starts: Dec. 29. Continues through Jan. 27
