Messy Genius

Abrahamson and Freedman find brilliance in clutter

Martha Stewart would vurp if she saw my house right now. My bed isn't made, my desk is a total mess, half of the food in my fridge is furry and I haven't dusted the baseboards in...well, ever. But according to Eric Abrahamson and David Freedman (writers of A Perfect Mess: The Hidden Benefits of Disorder) my sty is a reflection of my creativity. They say that the eight baskets of dirty clothes sitting in front of my washer and dryer since mid-2006 make me a more inspired person. And I say, "Score!" At noon this Thursday, The Institute for Interesting People will have Eric and Dave speak as part of their Bachendorf's Lunch Lecture Series at Mercury Grill, 11909 Preston Road. Lunch tickets are $50. Call 214-890-3491 or visit iipdallas.com.
Thu., Jan. 25, noon
