According to the nonprofit youth organization Girls Incorporated, its mission is to "help girls confront subtle societal messages about their value and potential." Great! Down with gender roles and materialistic obsessions! To raise money for this admirable goal, Girls Incorporated is having a "Sparkly Sidewalk Sale." Shoppers get 20 percent off sparkly jewelry and Valentine's Day gifts, among other items. Nothing says female empowerment like teaching little girls to value shiny objects and observe a Hallmark-manufactured holiday that makes single women across the country feel like hopeless failures every February 14. The sale's this Tuesday through Saturday at Fitting Gifts at the Fitting Room, 4111 Lomo Alto Drive. Call 214-520-3600.
