Lubbock Via Deep Ellum

One of the first albums I ever knew by heart was Joe Ely's Love and Danger. My parents used to play the cassette in the car nonstop, and the whole family loved it. As a seasoned Ely fan, it was a treat when I recently saw the documentary Lubbock Lights, a surprisingly entertaining film about the history of the Lubbock music scene. But even if you weren't raised on Joe Ely or Legendary Stardust Cowboy, the movie will surely teach you a thing or two about Texas music, and I guarantee you'll be tappin' your snakeskin boots to the soundtrack. Catch a showing at 9 p.m. Wednesday at AllGood Café for a mere $5 at the door. Call 214-742-5362 or visit allgoodcafe.com.
Wed., Feb. 21, 9 p.m.
