Expiring Art

I usually hate when people say, "Well, now I've seen everything," because that's just preposterous. There's simply no way you could have seen every single thing in the world, you lying liar. But now that I've seen that video of the late Anna Nicole Smith in clown makeup, talking baby talk to a doll in a baby carriage, I feel it's finally appropriate to utter that irksome phrase. And yet, wait! I spoke too soon! There's still more to see! Local artist Kurtz is presenting a show appropriately titled Too Soon: The Anna Nicole Art Show 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at JR's Bar and Grill, 3923 Cedar Springs Road. The collection consists of 30 of Kurtz's paintings, which will attempt to capture the last three hours of Anna Nicole's life in vivid colors. And, as if that weren't enough, there's a special twist to the show: Any paintings that remain unsold when the clock strikes 7 p.m. will be destroyed on the spot. And with price tags of up to $1,000, some of the paintings just might be on the chopping block. Kurtz says the message he's trying to convey with the format of the show is, "You want fame? Then buy it now, because in 3 hours, it will all be gone." I just hope it's not like those infomercials where they claim you have to call within the next 10 minutes to get that special offer.
