Edge of the Stage

The Hub brings the Fringes to its theater

Before all you seamstresses and show cowboys get too excited, the DFW Fringe Festival is not a celebration of sewing notions or swaying tassels. The second annual month-long event is brought to you by Shane-Arts and the Dallas Hub Theater and is actually a festival of theatre (try SATERs Shakespeare as Stephen King--ever considered Carrie in iambic pentameter?), one-person shows ("from Biblical to burlesque," according to artistic director Tim Shane), dinner theater, dance performances/workshops and music (a Cole Porter revue is on the slate). It's a theatrical force to be reckoned with that offers up rarely seen performances...oh, wait, we get it now...it's the stuff out there on the fringe. Not ones for mainstream stage shows, that sounds right up our alley. The DFW Fringe Festival begins Tuesday and continues through April 22 at 2809 Canton St. Call 214-749-7010 or visit shane-arts.com/dallashub for showtimes and details.
