Go Shrimpin'
Published on March 22, 2007
John Ash, a respected chef and wine expert, will be leading a class on how to prepare shrimp at Central Market. It should be a long class. Because apparently, with shrimp, you can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, sauté it. There’s, um, shrimp kebabs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo, pan-fried, deep-fried, stir-fried. There’s pineapple shrimp and lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. And if you make any type of Forrest Gump joke, two things will happen: 1) John Ash will smack you. 2) I'll buy you a lunch at Pappadeaux. The Big Picture on Shrimp with John Ash will be held at Central Market, 5750 E. Lovers Lane, 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday. The class is $80. To register, call 214-361-5754.
