My colleague said this local artist was pretty good, so I had to see for myself since art is all subjective and stuff. Turns out she is. Of course, all I have to go on is one semester of art appreciation. But seriously folks, something about Jennifer Morgan's we're all pink series transfixed me...I was staring at her animals, insects and fish subjects as if being caught in their sight—as opposed to vice versa. Some explode off the scenery while others are subtly camouflaged into the background. And then there's the armadillo on top of the lady's head that I don't get and I'm brought back to reality. Flora & fauna, works from the pink series, opens Wednesday with a reception at 6 p.m. and hangs until May 2 at the Belmont Hotel, 901 Fort Worth Ave. For more information visit belmontdallas.com or call 214-393-2300.
