Calling Terpsichore

It must be a brain-wiring thing, or maybe it's my complete lack of rhythm combined with the personal grace of a blind, drunk duck, but dance is an eternal mystery to me. I'll understand quantum physics before I'll understand the pleasure other people get from watching barefoot dancers prance, jump and pose in metaphorical choreography representing war, human relations and modern society. I...just...don't...get...it. Still, the performance by the Los Angeles-based troupe Diavolo, presented by TITAS 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at SMU's McFarlin Auditorium (6405 Boaz Lane), sounds intriguing even to me. Combing acrobatics with dance, Diavolo's dancers, gymnasts and actors leap and fly about--sort of like Spider-Man, I gather, without the awesome web-shooty-thingy. Cool. Now that I get. Tickets for Diavolo are $14 to $59. Call 214-528-7980, visit the TITAS box office at 3625 N. Hall St. or purchase online at titas.org.
Fri., March 30, 8 p.m.; Sat., March 31, 8 p.m.
