Deep Ellum throws a loud party

I love festivals, and the Deep Ellum Arts Festival is one of the good ones. I know because I've been somewhat of a connoisseur since the time many years ago when I randomly ran into a beautiful Texas girl whose mother was displaying pottery at a festival in Park City, Utah. Ever since, I have scoured various festivals and their booths hoping to see her again—so you could say I'm all about the people-watching aspect. This in itself is something of a piece of kinetic art at a community event like this, but besides the people in various states of "festivity" there is always something new to entertain any sense you like. In DEAF's case these include a singer-songwriter stage, the Petropolitan Pooch Parade down Main Street for attendees and their "best friends," a hand-blown glass demonstration and glass art exhibit, face painters, clothing design, spoken word, poetry, book signings, original art pieces, food and several drink selections of the adult variety and performances by more than 65 bands during this three-day festival. May you find what you're looking for 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday on Main Streeet between Good-Latimer Expressway and Hall Street. Visit meifestivals.com/deepspr.html.
Fri., April 6, 5-10 p.m.; Sat., April 7, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.; Sun., April 8, 11 a.m.-7 p.m.
