The Ballpark hosts some timely history
Those of you who still may be wondering why radio jock Don Imus' racist comment about the Rutgers women's basketball team caused such a fuss...well, you're chowderheads. Maybe what you need is a little lesson in history, Jim Crow, racism and the dignity conveyed by sports. Lucky for you, the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City has a mobile tour about the league's history that's coming to the Rangers Ballpark this Sunday. The exhibit, in a custom trailer that will be open outside the park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., features photos, jerseys and other memorabilia from the Negro National and Negro American leagues of barnstorming teams that toured the country from the 1920s until 1960—13 years after Jackie Robinson taught America that black players could play with white players without bringing about a collapse of civilization. The tour is sponsored by Roadway Express. Admission is free, though donations are accepted. Tell 'em Don sent you. Call 312-529-5850.
