"Living history" such as Dallas Heritage Village kind of freaks me out. I will never understand costumed characters who talk funny, churn butter and act like they've never heard of television. But here's something you should know: Kids eat this stuff up. Well, this weekend there's going to be a storytellingpalooza as more than 25 storytellers invade the village for the Texas Tales Festival, armed with fables, ghost stories, Choctaw tales and more—enough to keep every kid in town entertained for a couple of hours. Pack a picnic (or buy a boxed lunch) and enjoy some storytelling fun from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Dallas Heritage Village, 1515 S. Harwood St. Tickets are $5 to $10 (children under 4 are admitted free). Call 214-421-5141 or visit dallasheritagevillage.org.
Fri., April 27, 7 p.m.; Sat., April 28, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
