The key to a great birthday party is a cool host. That, and the presence of alcohol. The super-cool people of La Reunion have all that covered for their big birthday blowout this weekend. Celebrating their first anniversary, the nonprofit has been a force in the Dallas art scene, inspiring artists and the community through education, outreach and artist residencies. Performing at the party (gotta have performers!) will be the inimitable and "Texclectic" Paul Slavens (who just might have the most amazing radio show ever). The Dallas Latin All-Stars (featuring alumni from the Booker T. Washington Jazz Ensemble) and the UNT One O’Clock Lab Band will also perform. Plus, there will be salsa lessons as well as the Diverse Soulz Breakdancers to keep your feet moving. Add to that some free food, awesome door prizes AND a shuttle trip to the Dallas Museum of Art afterward and you have one helluva night! The La Reunion Anniversary partyhappens 7 p.m. Saturday at Sons of Hermann Hall, 3414 Elm St. Admission is $10. Call 214-747-4422.
