We Welcome You to Puppetland

In elementary school I discovered Land of Oz in the public library. I'd never heard of the movie or Judy Garland. I thought the Land of Oz was found only in the series of adventures written by L. Frank Baum, from The Wonderful Wizard of Oz through the 14th book, Glinda of Oz. The fantasy land was far more interesting than my small-town universe, and Baum had characters with great names such as Jack Pumpkinhead, Princess Ozma, Tik-Tok and King Krewl of Jinxland. Now in The Magical Land of OZ!, the Dallas Puppet Theater brings to life the familiar Dorothy, Tin Man and Scarecrow, as well as the fantastical creatures Woozy and Yoop. Catch it 11 a.m. Fridays, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays through May 13 in the AT&T Auditorium at the Women's Museum in Fair Park. Tickets are $5. Call 214-515-0004.
Fridays, 11 a.m.; Saturdays, 11 a.m. & 2 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: May 4. Continues through May 13
