Let's Celebrate

In May, attention tends to wander south of the border to Mexico. Especially around May 5, or Cinco de Mayo. The Ice House Cultural Center keeps the spotlight on a little longer, illuminating the Mexican Revolution though Viva La Celebración, a collection of large oil paintings on canvas by Fort Worth artist Jerrel Sustaita. His work tells the story of the revolution through images inspired by photographs from the turn of the century. Through his art, he's able to give equal time to both sides of the conflict and, in the process, humanize the lives of the men, women and children affected by it. Viva La Celebración runs from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays through June 8 at the Ice House Cultural Center, 1004 W. Page St. Admission is free. For information, call 214-670-7524.
Tuesdays-Saturdays. Starts: May 5. Continues through June 8
