Play-in' With the Boys

Actually, this Top Gun is a musical

The problem with making Top Gun into a musical is that Top Gun is already a musical, as is any movie that has Kenny Loggins on the soundtrack. Footloose? Musical. Caddyshack? Musical. Caddyshack 2? Practically an opera. I can't wait to see how the writers of Top Gun! The Musical did it. I heard Tom Cruise is coming to town to play the lead, and in the musical version (which is way more like the book) he and Ice Man finally hook up. Or maybe I heard that it's a satire about a guy who can't write a good musical to save his life. Either way, Jerry Bruckheimer's not involved at all, so it promises to be way better than the movie. (Well, at the very least it'll be way better than any musical you've ever seen.) 8:15 p.m. Friday, see Top Gun! The Musical at Dallas Hub Theater, 2809 Canton St. Or if you can't see it this Friday because you've got a killer beach volleyball game with the boys and you won't have time to take a shower before you show up, see it any Friday or Saturday night through May 26. Tickets are $15 to $20. Call 214-749-7010 or visit dallashubtheater.org. Take my breath aaawaaaaaaaaaaay.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8:15 p.m. Starts: May 11. Continues through May 26
