UTA's most famous graduate takes the stage

I've always had mixed feelings about A Few Good Men. Rob Reiner's major motion picture adaptation of the Aaron Sorkin Broadway play gave me more reasons to hate Demi Moore and Tom Cruise, while giving everyone else yet another Jack Nicholson impression to beat to death. The truth indeed. Yet I still watch the movie whenever it's on; I guess I'm a sucker. Know what else I'm a sucker for? Lou Diamond Phillips. The man who once stole my heart as Ritchie Valens and Chavez y Chavez is coming home once again thanks to the lovely people at Casa Mañana. He'll be starring as Nathan R. Jessep—the egomaniac made famous by Nicholson—in a one-week-only engagement of A Few Good Men. Phillips will be joined onstage by another local boy done good, Richardson native Jensen Ackles (one of the stars of the CW's Supernatural), who will play pretty boy lawyer Daniel Kaffee. Now if only they could've talked Kevin Bacon into reprising his role, I could really get behind this production, but Lou should be enough to get me to drive to Fort Worth for the performance 7:30 p.m. Wednesday (with nightly performances and two weekend matinees through Sunday) at Casa Mañana Theatre in Fort Worth, 3101 W. Lancaster Ave. Tickets are $30 to $59. Call 817-332-2272 or visit casamanana.org.
Tue., June 5, 7:30 p.m.; Wed., June 6, 7:30 p.m.; Thu., June 7, 7:30 p.m.; Fri., June 8, 8 p.m.; Sat., June 9, 2 & 8 p.m.; Sun., June 10, 2 & 7 p.m.
