To-Go List

Patricia Schultz plans your road trip

Americans today are living longer than ever before, but when author Patricia Schultz published 1,000 Places to See Before You Die, we were still overwhelmed. That's a lot of places, and they all sounded so exciting! But we're well into adulthood, and we have a relatively short amount of time. Luckily, Schultz has narrowed her focus in her new title. In 1,000 Places to See in the U.S. and Canada Before You Die, there are still plenty of places to visit, but she's kept it to North American sites, which are more accessible to the Texas traveler. The book includes adventures like visiting the ice hotel of Quebec, taking a barbecue tour of Kansas, exploring gold mining trails in Alaska and sailing in Maine. With experiences like these to have, we're taking our vitamins and hoping for long lives. Schultz signs and discusses her book 7 p.m. Wednesday at Barnes & Noble, 616 Preston Royal Shopping Center.
