Wind Beneath My Screens

If you enjoy WFAA Channel 8 movie critic Gary Cogill's benign movie reviews then you'll probably enjoy the Metropolitan Winds' Close Encounters of the Oz Kind hosted by the man himself. The evening of movie music by the symphonic band will feature selections from the films that make up the title, The Sound of Music and others. If you've never developed a taste for classical music or symphony orchestras then this could be a relatively cheap excuse to darken the doors of the Meyerson. (Worth checking out.) Just keep your fingers crossed that Cogill keeps his part of the program short. The Metropolitan Winds Movie Music Concert with Gary Cogill is 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Meyerson Symphony Center, 2301 Flora St. Tickets are $20, $10 for students and seniors. Visit metropolitanwinds.org or ticketmaster.com.
Sun., July 1, 7:30 p.m.
