Space Out

These Sisters are truly from another world

In recent months, I've been down on stage plays thanks to several occasions wherein I was randomly and unfortunately seated next to a "loud talker." Though totally unrelated, I ended up getting dirty looks as though I was responsible for their bad manners when the whole time I just wanted to get the hell away from the noise. But I think I might suck it up and take a chance on my audience member rep with The Sugar Bean Sisters. Apparently, the main characters are, just like I was, wishing a spaceship could pick them up and wisk them away. Plus, if WaterTower Theatre. 15650 Addison Road, is going to so boldly describe this play as one which "combines Tennessee Williams with Close Encounters of the Third Kind" and then include references to a "bald-headed Mormon woman" and the Weekly World News, I'm going to retire my lack of faith in the theatre going kind and kick it Sugar Bean style. Don't see any reason not to: There's murder, romance, alien abduction, a snake charmer and my second all-time favorite food, sandwiches. Join me (just don't bring any loud-talkers) 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays through August 12. Tickets are $20 to $30. Call 972-450-6232 or visit watertowertheatre.org.
Wednesdays, Thursdays, 7:30 p.m.; Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: July 19. Continues through Aug. 12
