Khaki Blues

Last time I checked, getting shot in the head could earn you some serious street cred. However, for singer-songwriter Marc Cohn, best known for the 1991 adult contemporary hit "Walking in Memphis" and making babies with 20/20 anchor Elizabeth Vargas, it was simply an opportunity to get back on a even playing field with the rest of the world. Zero out the old cred meter. Dig himself out of a KVIL-sized hole, you dig? I mean, the guy got shot in a head during an attempted carjacking in 2005 and was released from the hospital the very next day. Didn't even get any blood on his blue suede shoes, or so we heard. And he still ain't cool. Sorry, but it's true. See for yourself 8 p.m. Wednesday at the House of Blues (if you don't mind paying $25 to $75 to see someone play "Walking in Memphis" outside of a Pete's Dueling Piano Bar, that is). Visit hob.com.
Wed., Aug. 1, 8 p.m.
