Little Texas is still together

God may have blessed Texas but he never blessed Little Texas, the forgotten '90s country band that came out of Nashville at a time when Music Row started turning mainstream country into soft rock. In an odd way, the band should be remembered, not for its music, but for what it represented—the sound and look of tepid, corporate country, fronted by a gaggle of innocuous singers with perms. Their signature song, "God Blessed Texas," was a true embarrassment, as much for them as for those of us who live in the Lone Star state. About as authentic as an IKEA painting of a Cowboy, the song's nursery rhyme lyrics say nothing really specific about how God blessed Texas, but do provide ample evidence that the Almighty cursed Little Texas. Little Texas comes to Billy Bob's in Fort Worth at 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Call 817-624-7117 or visit ticketmaster.com.
