The Keymaster

Puerto Rican-born American citizen William Rodriguez is believed to be the last person to escape from World Trade Center Tower #1 on the morning of September 11, 2001. As a custodian in the building for 19 years, he had the only access key to three fire stairwells, and made repeated trips back into the building to open the stairwell doors, thus saving the lives of dozens of people before he finally got out one last time, diving under a fire truck as the building collapsed. Subsequently Rodriguez has been a very vocal interrogator of the U.S. government about the facts behind 9/11, and even helped draft the legislation that lead to the 9/11 Commission. Hear him recount his surreal, chilling tale 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Lakewood Theater, 1825 Abrams Pkway, where he'll also sign his book, Last Man Out. Admission is free. Visit lakewoodtheater.com.
