Too Proud

Chicks, man, how they go gaga for that Jane Austen and Pride and Prejudice. They're all, like, "Oooh Mr. Darcy this and oooh Elizabeth Bennett that." Not this all-hetero dude. Sure, I've read the book twice annually for the past 30 years, but not because of the romance. I'm a guy. I, uh, read it for greater understanding of the socio-economic aspects of marriage in Georgian England. It's history, man. Yeah, I've seen the movie eight times, but just 'cause Keira Knightley is smokin' hot. I have no opinion about who makes the better Darcy, Colin Firth or Matthew Macfadyen (it's Macfadyen). Yeah, that's right. So, men, grab your wimmin and head out to the Magnolia Theater, 3699 McKinney Ave., at 7 p.m. Monday for a free screening of the movie, presented by the Dallas Theater Center, which presents a stage adaptation of the novel opening August 29. Me, I'll be too busy slammin' brewskies and watching sports...or reading. Call 214-764-9106.
Mon., Aug. 20, 7 p.m.
