Bacon Face

Francis Bacon, the artist—not to be confused with his relative, Sir Francis Bacon, the Elizabethan philosopher—was known for his figurative, often macabre works. Macabre isn't the most desirable way to be portrayed for posterity, so why was he in such high demand to paint portraits? Find out when Dr. Hugh M. Davies, a modern art scholar with expertise in Bacon's works, delivers a lecture on the artist and his work. Francis Bacon's Portraits is at 6 p.m. Friday in the auditorium at the Kimbell Art Museum, 3333 Camp Bowie Blvd. in Fort Worth. Admission is free. For information, call 817-332-8451 or visit kimbellart.org.
Fri., Aug. 24, 6 p.m.
