Going Blind

See a strange Date at Theater Too

You may try to control every aspect of your life, but often chance encounters prove more significant than the meetings you've inked in your day-planner. In Blind Date, by Argentinean writer Mario Diament, a man (Kevin Grammer) alters his usual routine one day and sits on a park bench for the first time in his life. He happens to choose the favorite bench of a famous blind author (Hugh Feagin). As the men talk, Grammer's character reveals his dissatisfaction with his life and confesses to an affair with a much younger woman.

"Every missed encounter is essentially a twist of fate, don't you think?" the blind man asks. "Every chance encounter has the complexity of the universe. Just think of the infinite sum of insignificant details that could have conspired against this encounter between you and me." Given the weight of their talk, it's unlikely that they then bid each other adieu and go on about their lives as if nothing ever happened. Blind Date runs through September 2 in the downstairs Theatre Too space at Theatre Three, 2800 Routh St., Suite 168. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2:30 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $20 to $30. Call 214-871-3300 or visit theatre3dallas.com.
