Slappy Happy

Huh, how about that? Slappy's Puppet Playhouse is not another name for the confessional booth during youth services at your local Catholic church, but an actual puppet theater. OK. We knew that, but that Catholic pederast humor just never gets old, does it? You say it does? Well then, let's just skip the whole extended comical metaphor we had planned for the theater's performance of Hansel & Gretel, the fairy tale about two children abandoned in the forest who must survive the enticements of an evil witch and her elaborate house of treats. Oh, sure, we had plenty of similes to throw at you about the dark woods of metaphysics and the church and so on—stuff that could rival Beckett, damn it—but no, you just grab your kids and head to the Galleria through November 19 to check out the European-style puppet theater. Shows are 10:30 a.m. Fridays, 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $9 for adults and $8 for kids and seniors. Call 214-369-4849 or visit slappysplayhouse.com for more info, you killjoys.
Fridays, 10:30 a.m.; Saturdays, 10:30 a.m. & 1 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Sept. 14. Continues through Nov. 19, 2007
