Romo Arigato

Continued from page 1

Published on September 13, 2007

Though Romo models $300 jeans in this month's GQ, he's more comfy acting goofy in his backward cap. Two hours before kickoff last Sunday night he playfully jogged around Texas Stadium, waving to fans, pouring a water bottle over his face and intercepting a casual pass between assistant trainers before sprinting up the tunnel. That was after playing imaginary drums and air guitar to his official mix-tape centerpiece, Journey's "Don't Stop Believing."

"At the end of the day, you've got to go out and have fun and make plays," Romo said. "That's really all it's about."

How good was Romo against the Giants? He made us forget about his Seattle slip-up. How good will Romo be the rest of the season, the rest of his career? Through his first 11 regular-season starts he's thrown for more yards and more touchdowns than Aikman and Roger Staubach. Combined.

Though Brady Quinn was the team's eighth-rated player and still available at pick No. 22 in last April's draft, Jones passed on the Notre Dame quarterback because of his faith in Romo. Given that shrewd decision, it's now time for Jones to escalate that trust into an investment.
