(Mo)Mix It Up

While the word "Momix" sounds like some new-fangled cat food (we can hear the jingle now: "Help your kitty/Get his fix/Feed your kitty/New Momix!"), it's actually the name of a modern dance company that will blow you away. Often dancing all nude except for what's called a "dance belt"—a kind euphemism for what is basically a flesh-colored jock strap—the Momixers demonstrate a gorgeous and stunning example of what the human body can do. This ain't no wack-ass modern interpretive herky-jerky; rather, this is modern dance that flows gracefully, the dancers twisting their bodies around each other, muscles silhouetted against a scrim. Trust us, even non-dance fans will sit with jaws agape. Yup, this is the type of dance you can bring your hubby to—with this kind of supple athleticism, even a he-man can appreciate the show. Momix's Dallas appearance is part of this year's TITAS (a local performing arts nonprofit) season. The troupe will perform "Best of Momix," a greatest hits of sorts, featuring portions of past shows such as Lunar Sea, Opus Cactus and Baseball 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at McFarlin Auditorium, 6405 Boaz Lane.
