Evan Almighty

See the Urban art of Hecux

Artist and designer Evan Hecox is largely known for his skateboard work, which makes fine use of the rolling canvases by filling them with bright color and subtle commentary on "the everyday existence of the average person as they traverse the detritus of the modern metropolis." He's also shown his work in galleries from Tokyo to Paris. Urban Abstract, a new exhibit showing at The Public Trust, 2919-C Commerce St., collects some of Hecox's recent work to accompany the release of his first monograph, a collection of paintings, drawings and block prints designed by Art Prostitute's Brian Gibb. Hecox's work hangs through October 15; gallery hours are 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. Call 214-760-7170 or visit trustthepublic.com.
Tuesdays-Saturdays, 12-6 p.m. Starts: Oct. 4. Continues through Oct. 15, 2007
