Chin Up for Charity

Jay Leno come to town for charity

I have found myself in a bit of a conundrum. I loathe Jay Leno. I don't just dislike the man, I downright detest him. Him and that chin of his. But the thing is, he's coming to town, swooping down on our beloved Majestic Theatre (1925 Elm St.) this Saturday as the star of the St. Paul Medical Foundation's Legends 2007 event. See, they consider Leno a "legend" for some reason. So I could trash the man, his badly feathered hair and that chin, or I could support him for doing a good thing. I could ask you to subject yourself to an evening of "jokes" that only a fourth-grader would laugh at because it's for a good cause, but then you may hold it against me. I'll tell you what: If Leno gives the folks at the St. Paul Medical Foundation one of those fancy cars of his to auction off, I'll be there, shielding my eyes from that chin of his, for a good cause. Otherwise, I may just cut them a check and save myself the assault on my good senses. For those of you more accepting, Leno takes the stage at 8 p.m. at the Majestic Theatre. Tickets are $75 to $225.
