Doggone Party

Eat, drink and love your pup at this festival

Weimaraners must emit some toxin that causes insanity in humans. Artist William Wegman thought he'd be safe owning a few of the seemingly lovable dogs. Next thing you know, he's taking pictures and videos of the dogs dressed up in evening gowns and playing the banjo. The people organizing the Third Annual Mystics, Mutts & MoonPies Festival were sane once; now they're consulting pet psychics and describing their canines as "souls in dog suits." And anyone who likes MoonPies must be nuts...but then, it's been our experience that loonies always throw great parties. The Mutt- and MoonPie-lovers' shindig will feature live music, dog yoga and booths for artists and food vendors. Proceeds benefit Weimaraner Rescue of North Texas. The insanity is on display Saturday, October 13, from noon to 5 p.m. at White Rock Lake near Buckner Road at Lake Highlands Drive. Visit mysticsmuttsandmoonpies.com. [Editor's Note: We can't get enough of the MoonPie. The opinions (and slimmer waistline) of this writer are strictly his own.]
