Rock and Ron

The Modern 'til Midnight rarely disappoints, and this week is no exception. In fact, glancing at the old calendar, there's hardly a better lineup in town than this one. The final weekend of the Ron Mueck exhibit coincides with the evening, and if you haven't yet checked that out, it's time to see the incredibly surreal and vivid sculpture that's simultaneously creepy and...well, creepy. Declaring Space, featuring Mark Rothko, Barnett Newman, Lucio Fontana and Yves Klein, is quite the draw as well. I'm thinking that the evening's music might just be the icing on the cake though, with performances from local darlings Mom, as well as Tame...Tame and Quiet, the Sleeping States, Doug Burr, Peter and the Wolf and the sublime St. Vincent. I don't care how sick you are of hearing the hype surrounding her, missing her in such a perfect venue is damn near a travesty. Fork over the $15 cover, and catch this killer combo of art and music at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, 3200 Darnell Street, starting at 6 p.m. Friday. Visit themodern.org.
