Staged Fantasy

In influential literature, Miguel de Cervantes' The Adventures of Don Quixote is memorable in terms of theme, visual elements and literary reference. The word "quixotic" is derived from the character of Don Quixote. The description of foolish acts as "tilting at windmills" is a reference to his fantastical sword battles. To say it is an important work is an understatement. Aside from those simple examples it has also inspired many other works of art—from Picasso paintings to the musical, Man of La Mancha. Casa Mañana presents Man of La Mancha Tuesday through November 11 at Bass Hall, Fourth and Calhoun streets in Fort Worth. To think you could see it without tickets is just plain quixotic, so they're $27 to $79. Call 817-212-4280 or visit casamanana.org.
