Macbeth kicks off a big birthday

Congratulations are in order for the Dallas Opera, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this month! And, of course, the 50th means gold, so make sure to pick them up something nice. To kick off its 2007-2008 "Death by Diva" season, the Dallas Opera will be performing Verdi's Macbeth at 7:30 p.m. Friday. And while you might think opera is a rich man's game, tickets actually start at $15, so, sorry, you've officially run out of excuses not to take your girlfriend. Additional performances of Macbeth are at 2 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 p.m. November 14 and 16. All performances take place at the Music Hall at Fair Park, 909 1st Ave. Single ticket prices are $15 to $199, and full-season subscriptions are available for $75 to $1,020. To purchase tickets or for more information, call 214-443-1000 or visit dallasopera.org.
Fri., Nov. 9, 7:30 p.m.; Wed., Nov. 14, 7:30 p.m.; Fri., Nov. 16, 7:30 p.m., 2007
