Again With Antigone

UNT goes Greek in a crazy way

UNT is performing a modern version of Antigone. And I can't wait. Antigone's gonna overdose on TrimSpa at the end of the play when she thinks Creon has refused to DJ a proper HipHopera memorial service for Polynices (but then we find out that he was totally willing to DJ the HipHopera—he just wasn't down with giving out glow sticks as party favors because glow sticks turn people into douche bags just like Bluetooth earpieces turn people into douche bags). And then, Haemon totally fell in love with Antigone on MySpace so when he finds out she's dead, he's so distraught he kills his Second Life avatar. That would rock. But I'm sure whatever they have planned rocks too. At 8 p.m. Friday, see a modern translation of Sophocles' Antigone by Nicholas Rudall at UNT's University Theatre in the Radio, Television, Film and Performing Arts Building, Welch and Chestnut streets in Denton. Can't make it Friday? Don't eat a bullet. You can see the show 8 p.m. Saturday or 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7.50 for students, teachers and olds. Call 940-565-2428 or visit unt.edu.
Fri., Nov. 16, 8 p.m.; Sat., Nov. 17, 8 p.m.; Sun., Nov. 18, 2:30 p.m., 2007
