Finders Keepers

The Webb Gallery shows off its stash

As anyone who's ever read FOUND magazine can attest, you can find some pretty interesting stuff stranded in the parking lots, dumpsters and landfills of our society. "One man's trash is another man’s treasure," or so they say (or in the case of Dirty FOUND, one man's porn is another man's coffee-table book). We never really find anything cool, however, unless you count the time we found a hair extension on the ground at a high school choir competition and proceeded to concoct an elaborate back story about a love gone wrong and the catfight that inevitably ensued, freeing the weave from its cranial bounds to fall upon the concrete. The Webb Gallery in Waxahachie is easily North Texas' best repository for such things, whether they're displaying carnival memorabilia, Texas folk art or creepy Masonic masks. The latest exhibit, coincidentally named Found: 19th and 20th Century Objects of Design and Mystery, collects many such items, but if you're gonna see it you better act fast, as the exhibit comes to a close November 25. The Webb Gallery is located at 209 W. Franklin St. in Waxahachie; hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays and by appointment. Call 972-938-8095 or visit webbartgallery.com.
Saturdays, Sundays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Starts: Nov. 10. Continues through Nov. 25, 2007
