Bourbon takes on celebrity culture

It boggles my mind that Britney Spears was the most Googled celebrity of 2007, but then again, it could have just been Perez Hilton and that Chris Crocker dude hitting "refresh" for 12 months straight (at least that's what we're hoping). Artist Matthew Bourbon is similarly perplexed by the modern cult of Borderline Personality Disorder, which he takes to task in his new exhibit, Parts and Players, on display through January 25 at the H. Paxton Moore Fine Art Gallery at El Centro College, 801 Main St. The exhibit features composite paintings created by sampling images from a variety of sources, resulting in portraits of "everyone and no one at the same time." Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fridays. A reception and gallery talk takes place Thursday, January 17, at 6 p.m. Call 214-860-2115 or visit www.ecc.dcccd.edu/Campusinfo/artgallery.
Thursdays, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; Fridays, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.; Mondays-Wednesdays, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Starts: Jan. 10. Continues through Jan. 25, 2008
