Not everyone gets to live in a world with a videogame musical score. If that's your thing, then I guess I'm one of the lucky ones—my day job keeps me constantly surrounded by the musical accompaniment of animated missions and boss battles. But for those of you who only get to geek out at work during your Call of Duty lunch break, the Fort Worth Symphony is going to give you a chance to live it up this weekend as they present PLAY! A Video Game Symphony. The video game-based concert will feature large screen graphics of gamer favorites like Final Fantasy, Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid, The Legend of Zelda, World of Warcraft, Sonic the Hedgehog and the always classic Super Mario Bros. performed by the excellent Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra with the accompaniment of music director Miguel Harth-Bedoya's choir. Sit back and relax as these classically trained musicians remind you of the hours you've whiled away in front of gaming consoles and arcade machines, rocking out to Guitar Hero or killing off countless Goombas and Koopa Troopas. The concert begins 8 p.m. Saturday at Bass Performance Hall, 525 Commerce St. in Ft. Worth. Tickets are $35 to $65, with discounted rates for groups of 10 or more.
