Project X

The "X factor" is an indescribable, intangible characteristic that makes something stand out. You can't bottle it, buy it or sell it. You can however, assemble X-tinged components under one roof to give one interpretation of what it might look like. Deep Ellum/Fair Park mainstay 500X Gallery does just that in Expo 2008, a juried show whose exhibit includes drawings, paintings, sculptures and video by a diverse handful of Texas artists. The work is judged by Terri Thornton, Curator of Education at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, an artist herself who has exhibited at galleries in Dallas, Austin and Wichita Falls. The "X factor," or in this case the "500X factor," looks like great Texas art to us. Expo 2008 runs from noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through February 12 at 500X Gallery, 500 Exposition St. Admission is free. Call 214-828-1111 or visit 500X.org.
Saturdays, Sundays, 12-5 p.m. Starts: Jan. 19. Continues through Feb. 12, 2008
