Still the King

Bass Hall salutes Bob Wills

I stood next to Bob Wills' daughter at a SXSW day party once. Of course, I didn't really know that until they brought her up onstage and said, "Hey everybody, this is Bob Wills’ daughter," but I still felt a little more Texan after the experience. After all, her dad is a musical legend so legendary he is idolized by other musical legends, from Merle Haggard to Willie Nelson. Is your dad a musical legend? Didn't think so. This Monday and Tuesday you can see Wills' story on the big stage as Bass Performance Hall, 4th and Calhoun streets in Fort Worth, presents A Ride With Bob, a Bob Wills musical featuring the talents of legends in their own right, Asleep at the Wheel. Tickets are $25 to $75; showtime is 7:30 p.m. Visit basshall.com.
Mon., Feb. 4, 7:30 p.m.; Tue., Feb. 5, 7:30 p.m., 2008
