Get In Your Corner, Bits!

See some tasty art at Gallery 414

There are a lot of people out there today with their minds in the gutter. It's not uncommon lately for me to make some seemingly innocuous statement, only to have someone giggle uncontrollably and/or yell, "That's what she said!" (Oh, Michael Scott, how I miss you. Please end soon, writers' strike.) But apparently sometimes I'm the one guilty of naughty thoughts—like when I saw the name of the newest exhibition at Gallery 414 in Fort Worth. I mean, Tasty Bits? Really? I just knew it was gonna be related to either naked people or cereal. But, as it turns out, it's more metaphorical than that. (Isn't it always with these artsy types?) According to the Gallery 414 Web site, the exhibition is "a display of candy-coated works with a gooey, sardonic center," and it's so titled because of its "visual goodness that captures the flavor of our time." Mmm, sounds scrumptious, doesn't it? The artists chosen for the collection, including Paul Greco, Harmony Padgett, Takeki Ishihara and Takako Tanabe, were selected by curator Erik Tosten because of his "jealous admiration" of them and their work. Tasty Bits will be on display at Gallery 414, 414 Templeton Drive in Fort Worth, through February 22. For more information, call 817-336-6595 or go to gallery414.org.
Saturdays, Sundays, 12-5 p.m. Starts: Jan. 19. Continues through Feb. 22, 2008
