Art gets noisy at Light & Sie

Artist Terence Hannum may hail from Chicago, but from the sounds of things he'd be just at home at Denton's House of Tinnitus, reveling in noise. Hannum's Web site features two droning instrumentals entitled "Obelisk Pt. 1" and "Obelisk Pt. 2," and he'll open his new exhibit, Don't Give Up the Ghost, with a "guitar solo" this Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. (if he can keep it up for all three hours we'll be pretty impressed). The exhibit also features the unveiling of "Badge of Punishment," a video installation featuring a soundtrack by fellow noise enthusiasts Prurient, who've been known to use instruments such as "live wire, pennies, frying pans, toolboxes, scrap metal and used shotgun shells" according to allmusic.com. See Don't Give Up the Ghost from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturdays through April 5 (Hannum also offers a lecture at the gallery at 2 p.m. Saturday). Call 214-745-2255 or visit lightandsie.com.
Tuesdays-Saturdays, 12-5 p.m. Starts: Feb. 28. Continues through April 5, 2008
