Are We Golden?

Or are the Mavs just Kidding around?

By Jesse Hyde

Published on March 27, 2008

By now the Jason Kidd experiment should be over (what are we, a dozen games in with Kidd at the helm?), but the truth is, the jury is still out on the new-look Mavs. Against cruddy teams, the Mavs have looked fabulous, but against the West's best they've struggled. And this year, with the West as good as its ever been, there is no room for hiccups. A three-game slide can mean a rocket ride from the top of the playoff heap to the bottom, fighting for a spot in the post-season with the likes of the Nuggets and the Blazers. What better team, then, to measure just where the Mavs are in late March than the Golden State Warriors, who bounced the Mavs from the playoffs last year. Watch the Mavs and the Warriors Sunday at the American Airlines Center, tip-off at 8 p.m. For tickets (good luck) visit nba.com/mavericks.
