Artastrophe

Not to sound overly cynical, but nothing can cheer me up better than sarcastic fingers pointing at the dystopian world we've made for ourselves. If you're anything like me, then you'll surely enjoy UnNatural Disasters, the exhibition that UTD faculty member Greg Metz has put together. A show that will most definitely rock our socks off, it features the works of several artists, including Yasser Aggour, Andy Amato, Betty Washington and Animal Charm, working in a variety of mediums, including video, photography and sculpture. The line between natural and unnatural becomes even more blurred as these artists tackle everything from ecological disasters to bad hair days in ways that are thought provoking and humorous at the same time. UnNatural Disasters is on display now through April 18 in the main gallery of the University of Texas at Dallas' Visual Arts Building on Rutford Drive of UTD's campus in Richardson. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays; admission is free to the public. Call 972-UTD-ARTS or visit ah.utdallas.edu.
Mondays-Fridays, 9 a.m.-10 p.m.; Saturdays, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Starts: April 3. Continues through April 18, 2008
