Dancing Force

Some brigades are dangerous. If you were part of the Light Brigade in the Crimean War, you died. If you were to join the Kansas City Brigade arena football team, you'd be repeatedly smashing your skull into other skulls, which probably hurts, helmet or no. That's why the Barefoot Brigade is so lovely: it isn't so much about violence or death as it is about dance, and a little dancing never hurt anybody. The Barefoot Brigade is a coalition of modern dancers and fans, and their 7th Annual Barefoot Brigade Dance Festival is going on this weekend at the Bath House Cultural Center, 521 E. Lawther. The festival presents three days of modern dance, contemporary dance and performance art, all for only $15. Shows take place at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets can be purchased at the door with cash, or you can make reservations by calling 214-559-3993. For more information about the festival, visit cdfw.org. To contact the Bath House Cultural Center, call 214-670-8749 or go to bathhousecultural.com.
Fri., April 4, 8 p.m.; Sat., April 5, 3 & 8 p.m.; Sun., April 6, 3 p.m., 2008
