My familiarity with motocross racing is near non-existent but for this nugget: hip-hop/rock/pop/whatever's popular with the Now That's What I Call Music! crowd this week singer Pink's estranged husband rides dirt bikes. With an event as important as the Monster Energy Supercross FIM World Championship coming to Texas Stadium this Saturday, it would only be fair that I apply my brainpower to bringing you as many fun facts about this sport as possible. So I Googled Mr. Pink and found that he's also responsible for the 1983 hit "Sunglasses at Night." The respect-o-meter went way up, because that song has jazzed up many an ironic '80s night. And here I thought motocross was done only by deficiently endowed creeps who merely like their head injuries acquired at speedier paces than those achieved by skateboarding or trying to walk and chew gum at the same time. Yet sadly, the joke was on me: Pink's ex is reality show star Carey Hart, not '80s pop star Corey Hart. Damn you, Wikipedia! Regardless, riding enough motocross will definitely make you see stars, so leave it to the pros who will ride in round 13 of 2008's 17-round season this Saturday at Texas Stadium, 2401 E. Airport Fwy in Irving. Tickets are $5 to $40. Qualifying rounds begin at 12:30 p.m., racing at 7:00 p.m. Visit supercrossonline.com.
